Terms of Use
1 Acceptance of Terms
Fango is a food waste tracking app intended for personal use. By downloading or using Fango, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The app may only be used for lawful, personal purposes. Misuse, copying, reverse engineering, or modification of the app is prohibited.
2 Subscription
Fango is an auto-renewable subscription that unlocks all features. Monthly and yearly subscription options are available.
Prices vary by region and currency. The applicable price is always displayed for confirmation before your purchase is finalised.
Payment will be charged to your Apple ID (App Store) or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
Family sharing. There is no separate family subscription. When a household includes a member with an active subscription, the other members of that household get the paid features without a subscription of their own. That right lasts only as long as the subscription does: when it ends, or the subscriber leaves the household, the other members' paid features return to the free tier. No stored data is lost. Any member may buy their own subscription at any time.
A subscription is always personal. No household member can buy, change, cancel or even see another member's subscription — it is managed solely through the purchaser's own App Store or Google Play account. A member who holds an active subscription also cannot be removed from a household.
As a general rule, subscription fees are not refunded for the current billing period. This does not limit any mandatory statutory rights you may have as a consumer — including, where applicable, the EU right of withdrawal and rights in respect of a faulty or non-conforming service. Refund requests are processed by the store through which you purchased (Apple App Store or Google Play) under their respective policies. Fango does not handle payment information directly — all billing is managed by Apple or Google under their respective terms.
3 Free Trial
New subscribers get a 1-month free trial. No charge is made during the trial period.
Unless the subscription is cancelled before the trial ends, it automatically converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period.
If you activate a paid subscription during the trial period, the remaining trial time will be forfeited.
You can cancel the trial for free at any time before it ends:
iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Fango → Cancel Subscription
Android: Google Play → Profile → Subscriptions → Fango → Cancel Subscription
4 Cancellation
You may cancel your Fango subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to all features until that date.
To cancel your subscription, go to:
iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Fango → Cancel Subscription
Android: Google Play → Profile → Subscriptions → Fango → Cancel Subscription
If other members of your household were using the paid features through your subscription, that right also ends when the cancellation takes effect at the close of the current billing period.
Uninstalling the app does not cancel your subscription. Cancelled subscriptions are generally not refunded for the unused portion of the current billing period, without prejudice to any mandatory statutory consumer rights.
5 Use of Service
Fango is intended for adults and for minors aged 13 or older using the app under the supervision of a parent or guardian. The guardian is responsible for ensuring that these terms are followed on behalf of a minor user. The app is not directed at children under 13.
Family sharing. You can share your fridge, shopping lists and statistics with a household of up to four people. Content you add in a household is visible to every member, and they can edit and delete it — so share only what you are content for others to see and change. An invite code gives its holder access to the entire contents of the household; treat it accordingly and do not publish it. When the last member leaves a household, the household and all of its contents are deleted permanently.
The household itself. Whoever creates a household owns it. If they leave, ownership passes automatically to the member who has been in it longest. A member can only be removed from a household by a member with an active subscription, and a subscriber cannot be removed at all. Anyone may leave at any time, and leaving returns their own data to their device unchanged. Anyone can be invited to a household, including a minor family member; because there is no registration, Fango does not ask for age and cannot verify it, so the adult who created the household is responsible for who they invite and what is shared in it.
Fango reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the app or its features without separate prior notice. Fango may also suspend or terminate access for any user who misuses the app or breaches these terms.
6 Privacy
Your use of Fango is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms of Use by reference.
Fango does not collect or transmit your personal food data to any server — your fridge items, prices, dates and statistics stay on your device. To run the service, Fango uses a small number of third-party providers (including RevenueCat for subscriptions, Supabase as a relay, Anthropic for receipt scanning, and Resend for bug-report emails) and keeps minimal pseudonymous data such as abuse-prevention counters and opt-in analytics. The Privacy Policy describes each of these in full.
7 Disclaimer of Liability
Fango is a tool for reducing food waste — not an official food safety tool. The reminders and dates provided by the app do not replace the official best-before or use-by date markings on food packaging. Always assess the condition of food yourself.
We cannot restore data that another member of your household has deleted, nor data that was deleted along with a household when its last member left it.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the app's developers are not liable for any harm, damage, financial loss, or health issue that may result from using or failing to use the app. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for gross negligence or intentional misconduct, or any mandatory statutory rights you have as a consumer.
8 Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page. For significant changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify you (for example, through a notice in the app). Your continued use of Fango after updated terms take effect constitutes acceptance of them; if you do not agree, you should stop using the app and may cancel any active subscription.
9 Applicable Law
These terms are governed by Finnish law. Any disputes will be resolved primarily through negotiation. Consumer disputes may also be brought before the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta.fi).
